New Jersey - The US Explained

New Jersey. Despite being the fourth smallest state in the union, it is home to nearly 9 million people. While not having a single city whose city limits contain more than 300,000 people, it is the most densely populated state in the US, even more so than far smaller states like Rhode Island and Delaware. And with much of its land divided between two major urban areas, it still manages to contain some very sparsely populated regions. New Jersey, one of the most diverse states in the US, is the third place I will cover in this 56 part series on every state, territory, and federal district in the United States.

10 Places in New Jersey You Should NEVER Move To
Wow! There are SO many bad areas in New Jersey!
New Jersey. The garbage state...I mean Garden State. Sure, it has beaches, waterfalls and easy access to both New York City and Philadelphia, but let’s face it, New Jersey has a bad reputation. It’s known for its overflowing landfills, public corruption and high taxes. And while there are some great places to live in New Jersey, you won’t see them on this list. The places we’re about to discuss help give New Jersey its nickname as the “Armpit of America.”
We’ve looked at a wide range of data, including crime rates, unemployment rates, poverty, education and more. Plus, we took into account YOUR opinion - that’s right - you New Jerseyans have a lot to say about which places in your states are great and which are not so great. Sadly, while N...

Founding of New Jersey
New Jersey began as a royal gift from James, Duke of York, to Sir George Carteret and Lord Berkeley. It was named after a battle fought to defend the Isle of Jersey in the English Channel. New Jersey marks its 350th anniversary on June 24, 2014 with a look back at the colonial roots of New Jersey, originally divided into territories known as East Jersey and West Jersey.
"It Happened Here: New Jersey" is a production of Kean University, in partnership with the New Jersey Historical Commission. The series is narrated by Willie Geist. PCK Media is serving as producer of the series. For more information about this and other activities planned for New Jersey's 350th Anniversary, visit www.officialnj350.com.

Stretched along the Hudson, The Waterfront offers Manhattan views from its promenade and battery of upscale condo buildings. A candy-striped lighthouse and a 9/11 memorial face the spot where the Twin Towers stood. Mainstream shops fill Newport Center mall, while partially pedestrianized Newark Avenue is chockablock with taverns, taquerias, and New American eateries. New Jersey is a beautiful state with plenty of shore towns, a state famous for high-performing public schools, with one of the highest high school graduation rates in the country.
From dense urban areas like Newark and Jersey City to green countrysides and charming villas, New Jersey offers diverse places to live.
Families flock to the Jersey Shore during warm summer months while many outdoor lovers venture to the Skylands for hiking, hunting, and camping. North Arlington, Princeton, Westfield, ... are among the best places to live in New Jersey.
Its rural farmland is a source of fresh local produce that you’ll find displayed on farm stands, albeit mostly in summer.
However, The Garden State is accused of having some of the highest taxes in the country. And being too populated. A land mostly made up of highways, yet traffic is a constant theme here.
New Jersey has a diverse and innovative economy that includes major pharmaceuticals, life sciences, financial services, ...
Twenty-one Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in the state, which also has operations for more than 1,100 multinational companies representing 40 nations.
So if it were a standalone country, New Jersey would rank as the 19th-largest economy in the world.
It is possible to work in New York and live in New Jersey; or spend a Saturday in Philadelphia and be back home for dinner.
The Garden State’s low cost of living adds to its appeal, and it’s a contributing factor to why many young professionals, families, and retirees are putting down roots in the state.
Here are the 10 best places to live in New Jersey:
1. North Arlington. (overall, good for families)
2. Princeton. (overall, good for families)
3. Atlantic City. (retiree)
4. Westfield (many jobs)
5. Clifton. (affordable, good for families)
6. Madison (affordable)

New Jersey
Has 21 Counties
Touching the North
Atlantic Ocean
That is me
New Jersey
Is in the East of the US
Bordering
New York Pennsylvania and Delaware
We are the best
Welcome to Atlantic
In New Jersey’s Southeast
Bergen County
On the tip of the Northeast as you can see
Burlington counties
The 2nd largest in New Jersey state
Camden County
Borders Pennsylvania it’s great
Cape May is New Jersey’s
Most southern tip
While Cumberland touches Delaware Bay come to take a dip
Essex is a very very common county name
Gloucester county borders the Delaware River you see in the frame
Hudson County lines the Hudson River
Bordering New York
Hunterdon counties beautiful
You may even see a stork
Mercer County Has New Jersey’s capital named Trenton
Middlesex is across from Staten Island
I probably should mention
New Jersey
Has 21 counties
Touching the North Atlantic Ocean
That is me
New Jersey
Is in the East of the US
Bordering
New York Pennsylvania and Delaware
We are the best
Monmouth is lining the Sandy Hook Bay
While Morris County is landlocked
In the northern part of this state, I’d say
Ocean County’s the largest by square miles stretching to the North Atlantic
Passaic Counties in the North touching New York state but is not gigantic
Salem is the county you are seeing now
Somerset is the only other landlocked county here you may see a cow
Sussex County has a lot of water if you swim
Union counties across the Arthur Kill
From Staten Island’s Northern rim
Warren County on the Northwest side of this amazing state
New Jersey became a US State in
1787
My capital Trenton is a slice of heaven

Explanations of every joke because someone asked:
Bergen County is known for being extremely wealthy and all ten towns with the highest concentration of Korean-Americans in the US are located there.
Middlesex County has the highest concentration of Indian-Americans in the US, and is also home to Rutgers University.
Essex County's largest city, Newark, has a police department that has been involved in numerous excessive use of force and racial bias controversies.
Hudson County is home to Union City, which has the highest concentration of Cuban-Americans in the US, as well as a substantial Puerto Rican population.
Ocean County is home to the town of Toms River, which has the largest Italian-American population in New Jersey and is also kinda stereotyped as being a trailer park white trash town. Additionally, the town of Lakewood has a massive Orthodox Jewish population, and there are growing tensions in Ocean County over the controversial buying up of houses in neighboring towns by Lakewood landlords (please don't use this as an excuse to be antisemitic I'm Jewish lol). The whole area also got partially wiped off the map by Hurricane Sandy.
Monmouth County is probably best known for its beach towns, which attract teenagers and old geezers alike. You will also get beaten to death there if you say anything bad about Bruce Springsteen.
Union County has a sizeable Italian-American population, and is consequently associated with the mob (if I'm not mistaken I believe it's the setting of the Sopranos).
Camden County's eponymous city, Camden, has repeatedly been ranked as one of the most dangerous cities in the US. It's honestly a depressing caricature of an impoverished inner city, although it's gotten better in recent years.
Passaic County's largest city, Paterson, has the largest concentration of Palestinian-Americans in the US, leading to South Paterson being nicknamed Little Ramallah. South Paterson is also known as Little Istanbul due to its growing Turkish-American population.
Morris County was the site of multiple crucial events in the
American Revolutionary War, and was the site of the Continental Army's winter camp after the Battle of Trenton and Battle of Princeton.
Burlington County borders the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and consequently has a ton of Philly sports fans. It is also part of the Pine Barrens, a massive forest where the Jersey Devil is believed to reside according to New Jersey folklore.
Mercer County (my county) is home to Princeton University, one of the most prestigious colleges in the US that also attracts thousands of Chinese international students.
Somerset County is home to the town of Bedminster, where Trump National Golf Club is located. It also has the largest concentration of Paraguayan-Americans in the US.
Gloucester County is home to the town of Glassboro, where the Glassboro Summit Conference took place in 1967 between US president Lyndon B. Johnson and Soviet premier Alexei Kosygin.
Atlantic County's eponymous city, Atlantic City, is famous for its casinos and kitschy tourist appeal (it actually sucks to live there).
Cumberland County has nothing.
Sussex County was formerly home to Action Park, an amusement park that was notoriously unregulated and a hotbed for grievous injuries and even six deaths.
Hunterdon County is home to the town of Lambertville, which is just across the Delaware River from New Hope, Pennsylvania. Both towns, which are a short bridge walk away from each other, are known for their LGBT scene. It is also teeming with annoying bikers during the warmer months.
Warren County is in the middle of nowhere so everyone treats it like a backwoods white supremacist den.
Cape May County's eponymous city, Cape May, is a famous seaside resort city that primarily attracts retirees who are old enough to remember its glory days.
Salem County is home to the Salem Nuclear Power Plant, so there are probably irradiated mutants chilling there.

Jersey – Steeped in history and laced with cliffside walking trails, welcome to the largest of the Channel Islands. Don’t miss the top spots to check out in Jersey.
When ready, browse vacation packages to Jersey: https://www.expedia.com/Jersey.d55539.Destination-Travel-Guides
#Jersey is compact, making it easy to explore while on #vacation here. Country lanes and walking trails lace the island, ensuring Jersey’s attractions are never far away.
#Explore picture-perfect capital, St. Helier. Each of Jersey’s four coastlines has its own distinctive personality. #Visit La Hougue Bie, one of the world’s oldest buildings, and the port of Gorey, with its iconic medieval castle. The North Coast Path offers some of the island’s most dramatic views. At St. Ouen’s Bay, surfers will find some of the island’s best waves and history buffs can explore the Channel Islands Military Museum.
If you’re looking for history, adventure, incredible food, and total relaxation, Jersey weaves it all together into something truly magical. It’s not quite British and it’s not quite French, but Jersey is 100% unique.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Sadly, while New Jersey is home to the great Frank Sinatra, he’s not singing Newark, Newark. Let’s begin, shall we?

The Museum of Russian Art shows Soviet-era works.
